Due to the gradual implementation and nationwide enrollment of the program, we have implemented a lottery to randomly assign which schools originally participated. Half of these schools received significant cash flows to provide students with a wide range of artistic educational experiences throughout the school year. The participating schools had to make a financial contribution to enable art experiences. Including the combined Houston endowment funds, schools in the treatment group averaged $14.67 per student to facilitate and enhance partnerships with arts organizations and institutions. In addition to the professional development of art education for school principals and teachers, the students of the 21 treatment schools received an average of 10 enriching art education experiences in the disciplines of dance, music, theater and fine arts.
